I wanted to play around with reversing footage (the 2nd half of the video) and seeing what issues I might have to deal with to try to make it look like a continuous shot. The main issue was, of course, the cars moving backwards in the 2nd half of the video. I played with key frames and zooming in to make it look like hand help footage. It doesn’t quite work (the audio and the reversing clouds are dead giveaways) but this can be used for a bunch of interesting things in the future. Enjoy.

This is my third public video in the April Film challenge.
I was finally able to get some bike footage with my GoPro after dealing with the frustration of having SD card errors for several days (very frustrating!!!.) Some of the things I wanted to investigate were how shaky the footage would be if the camera was on the handlebars (it was shaky and too loud) and what the post-production workflow with GoPro footage to Final Cut Pro X is (still figuring that out.) I shot most of this footage in Parkchester and doubled the speed of the original footage. I hope you enjoy this.

This the 2nd video in my April Film challenge.
I finally edited this video. People who know me well knows how much I love to shoot fireworks (like this and this or this.) I have way too much unedited fireworks footage my drives. The Grand Army Plaza New Year’s Eve Fireworks have become a tradition for me. This footage from the last one never made it past the initial glance phase. This morning I decided to pull shots that had people in them and see what I could quickly throw together. This is what I came up with.
Note: It does get a little NSFW in the language at the end.
Camera: Canon Vixia HV40
Editing System: Final Cut Pro X

Happy April Fools!
So there I was minding my own business at the writing workshop (<- best workshops evah!!) I am a part of when Annique (one of my fellow writers) told me about a challenge she had thought up. Her goal was to make 30 films in 30 days in April. The films wouldn’t necessarily be for public consumption but was rather to get her making films more often. I of course decided to take it on (with modifications.) My plan is to make/share a film on at least the even dates in April unless I pre-empt that with an odd day film like I did today.
I shot today’s film Dreams: Breakfast Tease this morning. I hope you like it.

In the frenzy that was January, I totally missed the registration for the 2014 TD Five Boro Bike Tour hosted by Bike New York. That was supposed to be my 2nd bike tour of the year (after Tour de Staten Island was moved this year from September to April.) I figured that was the end of that until my buddy Gregory Lathan told me that he would be performing with Dancin’ Machine at the tour’s Queens, NY rest stop. So on the day of the tour, I jumped on my bike and headed out there with no expectation of shooting anything. With the great music and the Manhattan skyline though, I had to whip out my camera and record the performance. Here are the results.

The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance (BAAD!) hosted 8 writers for its 2014 BAAD!Ass Women Festival on March 20. I had attended a screening of Kinky Boots at BAAD! a few weeks before and was grateful for the new arts venue in the neighborhood (they moved last year from Hunts Point.) All the BAAD!Ass Women did a great job. Sheila Maldonado read the poem from her book ONE-BEDROOM SOLO. So I present to you my highlight of the night (the poem is about ME! ) . . . black green (and remix.)
