Online Voter Registration for South African Expats

2024 is a big election year around the world and it is an important election year in South Africa for several reasons including the fact that it has been 30 years of democracy and it is also the year that the ANC might dip below 50% for the first time since liberation.

Voter registration has been happening for several weeks for people in the South Africa and for those living abroad. The people living aboard who were not able to register in person at their consulates at the end of January can still register online here.

My recommendation is that you registry sooner rather than later because the website is buggy and because there is a deadline related to when the official Election Day announcement is made. You will need your ID book/card and your passport for registration.
