2024 Scriptation Showcase Script Competition Finalist announcement laurel and graphic

After 4 days of recovering from a post-election week that was more brutal on my body/mind/spirit than I thought, this announcement from the good folks at Scriptation has brought me back! Woo hoo!

I was happy to receive the email from them that my script Subway Weed is a finalist for the 2024 Scriptation Showcase Script Competition in the short script category along with 4 other scripts.  The other scripts up for the category prize are Freeborn by Shane Harbinson, Pat Quamé by Hamlin, Reservatory by Nicholas David Shanman and The One-Two by Esther Binstock.

Thank you Scriptation for the acknowledgment.  They will be announcing the final winners at some point in the next few weeks.

Thank you Christian Lybrook at Jacob Krueger Studios (JKS) for your guidance and support with my writing! Thanks to JKS for their free Thursday night screenplay class ( 7 – 8 EST) that has been going strong since the beginning of the pandemic.

Thank you Brian!

You can checkout the official announcement page of the finalists.

So what does being a finalist get me? Unfortunately not any money, but I do get . . .

  • 1 Year of Scriptation Showcase — According to FilmFreeway that means that for a year they will circulate “winners’ scripts to the directors, showrunners, and producers behind your favorite movies and TV shows.”  I’m most excited about this.
  • 1 Year of WriterDuet Plus (which at $9.99/month is valued at $119.88).  — I use FinalDraft to write my scripts so I’ll either play around with Writer Duet Plus for the features that FinalDraft doesn’t have or give it to someone if that is allowed.
  • 3 Month Industry Pro Access — this is access to more features in Scriptiation which is good timing because I had to let my access to Pro lapse this summer for budgetary reasons.
  • Virtual Group Meeting with Professional Film/TV Writers — that’s self-explanatory.

3 cheers to me for moving from Semi-finals Queen to what I will call Finals Diva. Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!

Now back to this damn feature script that is kicking my ass . . . mostly in a good way though. Mostly . . .
