HomeMy PhotosFarmers’ Market Late October ndlela November 2, 2024 My Photos, My Videos, My Writings I live in a part of The Bronx that some (including me) would call a food desert. More so with grocery stores than with restaurants but it has actually gotten better in the years since I’ve lived here. Further away from me are some grocery stores that actually sell decent produce, and a growing selection of plant-based options and alternatives. Then there are the amazing “ethnic” (Southeast Asian, Latino and West African) stores and restaurants that took me way too long to frequent and appreciate. The one thing that makes a huge difference in the summer for produce is the farmers’ market that happens every Friday. I wish it was year round but it only runs from June to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Here are some photos of a tiny fraction of the great veggies from there. Next are a few fall tree pictures from by walk to/from the market. The video at the end was captured on the way back after the rain gave us a brief break from the freak hot ass (and appreciated) days we had at the end of October.
