Senator Jeff Klein (D–Morris Park) and Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., hosted the annual New York Salutes America fireworks celebration on June 27. This was my first trip to this fireworks celebration and I loved it. Below is the video I shot.
In the frenzy that was January, I totally missed the registration for the 2014 TD Five Boro Bike Tour hosted by Bike New York. That was supposed to be my 2nd bike tour of the year (after Tour de Staten Island was moved this year from September to April.) I figured that was the end of that until my buddy Gregory Lathan told me that he would be performing with Dancin’ Machine at the tour’s Queens, NY rest stop. So on the day of the tour, I jumped on my bike and headed out there with no expectation of shooting anything. With the great music and the Manhattan skyline though, I had to whip out my camera and record the performance. Here are the results.
The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance (BAAD!) hosted 8 writers for its 2014 BAAD!Ass Women Festival on March 20. I had attended a screening of Kinky Boots at BAAD! a few weeks before and was grateful for the new arts venue in the neighborhood (they moved last year from Hunts Point.) All the BAAD!Ass Women did a great job. Sheila Maldonado read the poem from her book ONE-BEDROOM SOLO. So I present to you my highlight of the night (the poem is about ME! ) . . . black green (and remix.)
The line on the last day of the Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Hals: Masterpieces of Dutch Painting from the Mauritshuis exhibition at The Frick Collection. The line was pretty much a full circle around the block/building.
Late night train ride. Wanted to see how well I could play with coordinating the shooting of two trains arriving at the station.

I took a quick bike ride to Crotona Park and decided to test my bike shooting skills. Ha! The footage was shot handheld with an iPhone 5c and with no extra processing in Final Cut X.
[****UPDATE Sun 09/29/13 5:42PM : Director Shaka King will be at the 8:20 screening at Film Forum and will be doing a Q&A****]

J.Cole performed as part of MoMA PS1’s Warm Up. The other performers on the bill were King Britt, Bangladesh, Mr. MFN eXquire, Darq E Freaker, World’s Fair, Star Eyes and Jubilee. J.Cole headlined the hiphop lineup and did a good job. He really connected with the crowd (who knew all this lyrics.) I didn’t think I would shoot any video that day but ended up whipping out my old-ass iPhone and shooting this. Enjoy.
